Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I have been a resident of Bloomington, IN for the last 10 years. I attended Indiana University in Bloomington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with outside concentrations in Sociology and Computer Science in 1992. After working in the hospitality industry for over two years, I returned to Indiana and completed my graduate studies in Social Work at Indiana University in Indianapolis. I graduated with my Master's of Social Work in 1996. As part of my graduate curriculum I worked as a case manager with the Family Self-Sufficiency Program. I also worked for several months at IUPUI Counseling and Psychological Services, where I gained experience with individual and couples therapy with university students and staff. After I obtained my MSW degree I worked for a brief period with Koala Counseling Center as a mental health and addictions therapist for adults, adolescents, and children; I also facilitated Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Aftercare groups for adults and adolescents with substance abuse issues. For the past ten years I have been working with Bloomington Hospital Home Health & Hospice as a staff social worker. My experience with Home Health & Hospice includes case management, education, and counseling for individuals and families, as well as bereavement counseling with individuals and groups, intake and admissions work, and volunteer coordination/supervision. While I continue to work part-time with Home Health & Hospice, I now also engage in private practice work involving individual, couple, and family counseling for issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, caregiver stress, chronic illness, and other issues. Some of my more recent experience now includes work with individuals with end stage renal disease undergoing dialysis, as well as conducting psychiatric assessments in an inpatient psychiatric facility. I hold a Clinical Social Worker license in the state of Indiana. I am also board certified with the National Association of Social Workers as a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. |
